A Life of Luxury:
Persia, Mesopotamia and Central Asia from Cyrus to Alexander

Course Description

 

This course, which coincides with a major British Museum exhibition, explores the luxurious world of the ancient Persians. It explores life in the great palaces of Persepolis and Susa and examines how Persian imperial taste pervaded every corner of its vast empire.

 

The course is convened by Dr Sara Peterson, with Prof Lloyd Llewellyn-Jones.

Course Structure

 

The course runs Tuesday to Friday, usually starting at 10am and finishing before 5pm. Lectures will take place in SOAS’ Russell Square, London campus. The course also features visits to the British Museum.
